1St July 2010 Newsletter No: 37
Dear Parents/Carers,
A huge thank you to everyone for their hard work and support for the summer fayre, everybody enjoyed the fine weather and a special thank you to Donna Thomas and Pippa Cook for coordinating this successful event which raised £550!
Inset day Monday. The staff will all be undergoing Emergency first aid training in the morning. In the afternoon we will be working on the pupil support programs to be run next year.
I hope to see some of you at the church fete on Saturday. The football team have been practising hard and will be playing at 4p.m. If you are unsure where it is come to school at 3.15 p.m. Many thanks to Richard and Billy for training them so well. Don’t forget those colouring competition entries for the Church fete. You can either take it straight to the fete or hand it in to Mrs Aries.
I hope you are all coming to sports day next Wednesday at 1.15p.m. We are practising most days so pupils need a water bottle and hat each day. If your child has an asthma inhaler please could you check it is in school and it has not run out. After sports day Friends will be selling ice creams.
PALS are meeting at 09.00 am Friday 2nd July 2010 at the Lamb Inn (opposite the school). Mrs Jones is coming to introduce an exciting new pyramid group which will be running in September. If you cannot make this she will also be holding a session with coffee at 2.30 on Friday in the school.
There will be no more school clubs on Wednesdays after school as we have sports day, school trip and Open evening. Gym club has one session left which will be on 21st July. Football club, Growing and multiskills will all have one final after school session on Monday 12th July.
Year 4 and 5 had a great day Monday finding our about the role of peer mediation in school. This was organised by Mrs England and run by three members of staff from the local authority. They were taught a range of skills and strategies for dealing with situations when things go wrong.
School prom is on Friday 9th July from 6-8pm in the Village hall, tickets will be available next week.
Team Super Schools Challenge – following Olympic sportsman Christian Malcolm’s visit to school we would be grateful if any outstanding sponsor money could be brought to the office by next Tuesday please.
I have noticed a few pupils are bringing in fruit drinks in their water bottles. Pupils should have water to drink during the day but may have squash or juice with their lunch. The government advice is that children should not be sipping fruit drinks throughout the day as it is harmful to their teeth.
Thank you to all parents who have returned their child’s consent form and payment for our forthcoming whole school trip to Horse World. Please could any outstanding forms and payments be sent to the school office tomorrow? If any family is experiencing difficulty in financing their child’s place please talk to Mrs Bendeaux and we may be able to help.
Unfortunately, I have had to ask pupils to leave their match attack cards/files at home. It has been working well for quite a long time but recently there have been several incidents of cards going missing or arguments about who brought which ones in. A pupil lost his whole folder on Wednesday so please can you check it has not come home by mistake.
