6th May 2010                                                                       Newsletter No: 30

Dear Parents/Carers,

Good luck to year 6 for their SATs next week, you have all been working hard with Mrs Kemp. Have a restful weekend: remember, keep calm, have lots of early nights and plenty of breakfast and you will be fine.

Well done to the May pole dancers, you were very impressive and looked very smart. Thank you to Chris Bellis for training them so well and to Dawn Orchard who made the beautiful floral headbands and decoration for the maypole. I am delighted to hear that Annie King has offered to take on the task next year. Thank you everyone for coming to watch and for support with practices etc.

Well done also to the brass band for the fanfare. This was their first outing and I am sure it will not be their last.

We have had a few requests for uniform. There is still some stock left in school (mainly in smaller sizes) and we have now added the link to the web site under the forms section, so you can now order directly. Can you please also ensure that all items of school wear are permanently marked with your child’s name in.

Clubs: there are too many children trying to get changed in class 2 on Wednesdays, after clubs have finished. Please could gym club people take everything into the hall and get changed in there.  Parents please go into the hall to collect them. If your child does growing club please collect them from class 2 door.

The hockey team played very well at Brimsham Green. It was our first venture as a team whereas the other four teams had all previously played together competitively. So well done, you played well individually and as a team.

Stars of the week

class 1      Olivia    Learning about hot countries

Class 2              Jacob                    Enthusiasm for World War 2 topic

Class 3              Jay                        Great improvement in reading independently

If your child has special needs the deputy director of education has invited you to a conference at BAWA on Thursday 27th May to help shape the future of provision in South Gloucestershire. There are leaflets in the porch with more information.

Yours Sincerely
