12th March 2010 Newsletter No: 24
Dear Parents/Carers,
The children began May day dancing today and it went really well. This is the last year that Mrs Bellis will be doing it so we desperately need someone to come forward to help and lead it next year. The school has a long tradition of dancing on May day and it would be a shame for it to stop.
We are hoping our year 4 brass players will be learning a fanfare to accompany the crowning of the May Queen - so far 4 people have volunteered but we need more.
Next Wednesday to Saturday Miss Brooks, Mrs Jones and I will be travelling to Crete for the second meeting of the Comenius schools. Each country will be taking out a book of local recipes to share. This week each class has been busy making an electronic newsletter to send to our partner schools. Comenius is a two year project funded by the British council to improve learning between pupils in different European countries.
We can now offer Guitar lessons for any other pupils who are interested in learning to play after Easter – please visit the office for more details.
We still appear to have a problem with late arrivals. The school door will close at 8.55am and late arrivals must be signed in at the office, including class 1. Children need to be at school by this time as lateness disrupts the class and causes confusion over dinner registers. Teaching commences at 8.55am and learning begins at 9.00am. In the 3 weeks since half term we have 28 late pupils!
