13th May 2010                                                                          Newsletter No: 31

Dear Parents/Carers,

Don’t forget Inset day next Friday 21st May-teachers’ assessment day.

I now have the information for year 6 residential week. There will be a meeting on Tuesday May 18th 3.30p.m in the hall when I will share this information with you and hopefully answer any questions.

Well done to the year 6 who have worked so hard with their SATs this week. Mrs Kemp has worked very hard to prepare them for these tests so I am sure they will be fine.

Internal school tests

I am sure you are aware that these have also been taking place recently. Mrs Burchell has assessed all of the Pupils in year 2 and Miss Brewer has assessed all of the children in the Reception year. The results for these 3 years (Reception, year 2 and year 6) have to be sent to the local and National authorities. Pupils in years 3, 4 and 5 took Optional SATs which are marked internally.

On Saturday 22nd May Miss Brewer, Mrs England and I are going to Sweden for the next part of the Comenius project. The focus is the outdoor learning environment which is brilliant for Miss Brewer.

Thank you to Friends for organising and running skittles and coconut shy on May Day. They raised 289.60.  Also please return any invitation books by next Wednesday.

I hope you have all seen the display boards that Friends have organised each morning this week. It shows the wide variety of practical and financial help that they provide to the school. The annual meeting is on Wednesday 19th May- I hope lots of you will be there.

A huge “thank you” to Sandie Wiggins who has organised 3 more raised beds for Growing club.

Good luck to the football team who are competing in the small school tournament at Tortworth School on Wednesday.
