19th November 2009                                                         Newsletter No: 10

Dear Parents,

Next Wednesday to Sunday we will be joined by Head teachers and staff from Crete, Hungary, Netherlands and Sweden. Iron Acton and Broadway school successfully bid for funding for a 2 year project looking at how different schools use the outdoor learning environment to improve learning. The schools have already exchanged electronic newsletters and are all busy preparing digital introductions to their school.

The visitors will be in school next Friday morning.

I hope all of the children have been telling you about recycling after their workshop on Monday.

So far we have raised £188 from the Wellie walk. Well done everyone.  If there is any more sponsor money to come in please send it to the school office. Thank you.

We will be supporting Children in Need tomorrow with the theme – “Go Dotty – wear something spotty”. This could be a simple as a pair of spotty socks to a complete outfit - the choice is yours. There will be collection tins for donations.

  • Our four lunch break supervisors are very dedicated and often cover if someone else can’t come in. However, there are still times when we are short staffed. So we would like to appoint a casual lunch break supervisor to fill in for illness/ unexpected absences - like a supply teacher does in school. If you are interested and/or would like more details just let Mrs Bendeaux, Mrs Hall or Mrs Parry know.
  • Unfortunately, the project manager has no news on our planning application and conservation area consent for the wall and the field project, so we are still waiting.
  • Stars of the week

Class 1          James Enthusiastic African topic

Class 2          Josh P Outstanding numeracy

Year 4/5     Josh H Greatly Improved writing

Year 6   Georgia Super research on King Arthur

Please could I ask you to check the name in your child’s school fleece and/or sweatshirt?  We seem to be missing one or two fleeces and sweatshirts which are named. It is possible some children are wearing clothing belonging to others without realising.  (It may also be worth checking that your child’s name is still clearly visible on all items of clothing as names can do tend to fade after a few washes). Your cooperation would be appreciated.  Thank you.

    Yours sincerely

     Mrs J Bendeaux
