22nd October 2009                                                                     Newsletter No: 07

Dear Parents,

Don’t forget Wellie walk on Friday 6th November at 2.15p.m. All children can go home at the end if they have an adult to collect them. Please can they bring a coat and boots/stout shoes in. All pre-school pupils are welcome to join in for the afternoon. We need as many adults as possible to check lap cards and make refreshments.

There is a Friends meeting at 7.30p.m at The Lamb Inn Wednesday 4th November. There will be a lot to do for the Christmas Fair so please come to the meeting.

Iron Acton pupils excelled themselves over the weekend. Well done Mya, Shannon and Tiana who won medals and trophies at a gymnastics competition in London. Olivia and Louis came first and fourth in a Talent show.

We have reminded the children that they should be bringing water for their classroom drink. They can bring squash etc for lunchtime.

Children don't come with a handbook and we all need help and advice from time to time!  Parenting can be rewarding but those of us with children also know how difficult and challenging it can be. The charity Barnardos realise the importance of supporting parents at a very early stage rather than waiting until everything goes wrong.

Here at Iron Acton Primary we are lucky to have access to a parent support adviser. Her name is Rebecca Trimby and she is based at Brimsham Green School. She has a wide experience of working with children and families. There are leaflets with further details in the entrance hall.

A referral has to come from the school but after this point the meetings are confidential between Becca and yourself. The school will not know what is discussed unless you ask them to be told. Please see Mrs Bendeaux if you are interested.

After half term the children will be coming straight into their classroom rather than waiting on the playground. School starts at 8.55 a.m but they are welcome to come anytime after 8.40 a.m.

I still need an adult to oversee football club for years 3-6. Miss Brooks will be running ICT club.

Bonfire Night. Saturday 7th November at the Parish Meadows from 5.30pm.

Tickets are available from Mrs Haselhan or the school office. The school receives 20% commission on our sales so please buy from us! Thank you.
