24th September 2009                                                                Newsletter No: 03

Dear Parents,

Well done to the netball team who played so well in the local small schools tournament. Thank you to Mrs Jones for training them so well they won a match. Thank you to all the mums who came to support them.

Please can we have the remaining image consent forms back as soon as possible. I am trying to finalise the new school prospectus and finding suitable photographs of pupils.

I am delighted to say we have been successful in our bids for two projects funded by the local authority.

Miss Brooks will be running the “Josie project” with years 4 and 5. This is a very exciting new initiative and we have been chosen as the first pilot school. It is a structured program where a mother brings her baby in and the pupils use this as a focus to explore a variety of emotional and social issues. A separate letter will be going out parents in year 4 and 5 explaining the project in more detail.

Secondly we will be joining with Pucklechurch and the Tynings schools to share a modern foreign languages assistant. Her name is Beatrice Freasey and she will be coming into each class on a Wednesday to support the teaching of French.

Advanced dates:-

School photographs Tuesday October 6th - you are welcome to bring in younger siblings at the start of the day.

Harvest Service on Wednesday 7th October at 1.45 p.m. We would be grateful for any donations of produce. We will start by auctioning some of the larger items and then year 6 will have tables of produce for sale. (The sale will not start until after the auction has finished). The money raised will go to charity. We have an ongoing commitment to support Maria in Uganda. The rest of the money will go to charities chosen by the pupil school council. There will be slips of paper available at the auction for you to nominate a charity and explain why you feel we should support it.

Friends meeting Wednesday 30th September after school in class 3 all welcome.
