Due to the children coming in weaker in writing I will put in the following support to enhance the enjoyment of writing. This should help with the development of writing.
- Role play area will be changed every term to go alongside the topic. There will be opportunities for lots of different forms of writing such as postcards, lists, stories, letters, invitations and use of postex notes etc. Children will have the opportunity to write on whiteboards and with different coloured own.
- To enhance this further I will be putting 9 pouches hang up on the wall in the role play area; one for each reception child. This will have their name on. This will be where children can write to each other and post it in the correct name.
- 2) There will be speaking and listening activities during circle time to extend children’s language. This will also be shown outside through use of team work and communication when using the scrap store materials.
- There will be plenty of opportunities for writing outside through using a paintbrush and water, writing in the mud. Writing on laminated cards, chalking, shaving foam.
- It will also be important for chn to see modelled writing taking place and an example of each type.
- Further on in the year when writing is becoming more advanced I will be using Billy Bear the puppet where children will be able to write to him and put the letter in the honey pot. Billy Bear will then write back and post it in their pouch for children to receive and read it.
- Support put in now
- As there are some more able Reception we are challenging them more as they began the letters and sounds programme early. Mrs England works with them to challenge them and to begin blending words which are then transferred to writing. Further on in the year some Reception may work with year ones for a challenge.
- With the less able Reception it has been important to establish the classroom rules to start with and take all their interests into consideration. There is a clear interest of farming so when it comes to learning sounds it will be linked in with farming e.g. hunt in the mud for sounds on tractors, write a list of what you need to round up the sheep, put the tractors in order to make a word etc.
